1¾«ÁFemale and Male Symbols A TrueType Font Version 1.0 I made it to meet a need suggested in the Taxacom biological systematics mailing list. Here is what it contains: F female, large format H hermaphrodite, large format M male, large format V virgin, large format (as used with insects?) a annual b biennial f female, small format (fits better in text) h hermaphrodite, small format (fits better in text) m male, small format (fits better in text) p perennial v virgin, small format (fits better in text) The large versions of female, male, hermaphrodite, and virgin do not sit on the baseline; I didn't want the lower portion to descend further than the descenders of Times New Roman at the same point size, since that would mess up automatic line spacing, and I wanted the circle of the male symbol to line up with the rest. The small versions do sit on the baseline, but they are smaller than the large versions (you probably guessed that). Even though I tried to match the sizes to Times New Roman, they ended up a bit small, so you might want to increase the size about 20%. The font was created with Corel Draw 5.0.
