\f1\b0  \'ca \cf2 The TrueType font format was originally developed by Apple who then sold the technology to Microsoft. Microsoft has made vast improvements to the technology and hence made it their standard font format. While there are many differences between TrueType and its alternative, Adobe's PostScript Type 1, the primary advantage to the end-user is the single file packaging. The TrueType font file contains all outline, bitmap and metrics information for the font. Additionally, all platforms support TrueType natively (without the need for a translator such as ATM). In the Windows environment, this format is recommended for common usage.\
