Created for OA04: a year of Obscure Actions, using Vittore Baroni's choice of typeface, Corsiva.\
\
The font is a collection of words and phrases gleaned from the Phosgenia bulletin, other mail art sources and things that seemed like a good idea at the time.\
\
Upper case and lower case access different word sets, so keep your shift finger active as you make random connections designed to spur your creativity and let you access the ethos of Obscure Actions.\
\
The idea is to capture the spirit of OA04, the apparently pointless poetic gesture that revels in its refusal to be assigned conventional meaning or purpose. Obscure Actions celebrates Art that flaunts its ability to confound or amuse, to engage or enrage.\
\
In Douglas Adams' story The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Arthur Dent uses Scrabble letters to access random associations. Word magnets on a fridge door allow users to make poetic messages as well as mundane ones. David Bowie famously created song lyrics by cutting up and rearranging newspaper words.\
\
This font allows the mailartist to access the same psycho-mystical forces to conceive successfully obscure interventions using your PC or Mac, a wealth of conceptual engine oil in just 150 KB, oven-ready and waiting to set up home in your fonts folder.
